Easter Sunday, April 5

Mark 16:1-7

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”

Up from the Grave He Arose Music and Lyrics: Robert Lowry, 1826 -1899

Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior, waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave he arose; with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;

he arose a victor from the dark domain, and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.

He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior, vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior; he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Because Jesus died and then rose to life again, so we who trust in Him will rise to life again after our death. We will live together with Jesus forever and ever, with no more pain or suffering, no more sadness, and no death! He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Because He lives, We can face tomorrow,

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because we know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!

Gracious Lord Jesus, Thank you so very much for loving us…. Amen
