But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
The word of God is so amazing! There is so much packed into this one sentence!
Verse 4 reminds me that God’s timing is perfect. It says the SET time. When impatience wants to take hold in my mind and attitude I need to remember God is setting things in motion and bringing about circumstances I can’t even imagine. He knows how all the pieces will fit together in His perfect plan. I need to trust He knows and wants what is best for me. When I try to take control and force my will in any situation I become frustrated and discouraged.
Isn’t it amazing that from the beginning of time to thousands of years later God knew the SET time to send His son? Then, because Jesus was born of a woman, there was 30 years of Jesus’ earthly life for him to develop and grow before His ministry began.
Jesus came to redeem those born under law, those who have sinned, (all of us) so that we can be heirs adopted by God as his children. He loves each of us that much to orchestrate the miraculous chain of events that brings us out of sin into an eternity in His awesome presence!
Lord, I thank you for making a way for me through your son Jesus. Help me to always surrender my will to yours so that I might serve you and in doing so catch a tiny glimpse in this lifetime of the peace and abundant joy I will have forever with you in the next. Amen
