Luke 11:1-4

1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3Give us each day our daily bread. 4Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’ ”

So much of Jesus teachings are summed up in these few words.

Father – my creator, my provider, my beloved Abba Daddy

Hallowed be thy name – you are Holy,100 % good,

Thy kingdom come – You created perfection and mankind, us, we blew it, and still you have made a way to make it right again.

Give us this day – Keep me focused on just today Lord. No dread of tomorrow or regret from the past.

Our daily bread – You provide everything I need Lord, My physical and spiritual sustenance.

Forgive us our sins – You’ve already done that through the death and resurrection of your son. Help me to forgive myself and believe with every fiber of my being that you love me that much to send Him to the cross for me. Help me to be aware of my sinfulness, my shortcomings and self-centeredness and make me willing to change. Change me.

For we also forgive – Show the same mercy to others that you have given to me.

Everyone – I can’t just pick and choose those that are easy or convenient.

Who sins against us – If God be for us who can be against us? Give me your eyes, Lord, your heart. Take away my judgmental attitude and stubbornness. If I trust you wholeheartedly the pettiness of this world doesn’t matter. If I am wrapped in resentment it is a barrier to your peace and knowledge of your will for my life.

And lead us not into temptation – I want to live for you Lord and not get distracted by the snares of Satan. He wants me miserable, He wants to prevent me from serving you. He wants me to never reach my potential. He wants me dead – forever.
