I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’”
At first glance I thought great, a psalm about singing, which I love to do. Especially praising God through song and other types of music. But then it seems to me that this verse says that we should make God’s faithfulness to us known to those around us and our descendants, not only with song but more importantly with our words and actions in our everyday life. Our whole way of life should be praise of God and all he does for us. He is faithful to us and provides for us when we chose to accept him and place him in our hearts. God made a covenant with David, and he also makes one with us when we are his followers.
God you have told us that we are chosen to be yours when we commit ourselves to you. Help me to honor that commitment by praising and acknowledging you with every fiber of my being, every day of my life. Amen
