John 1: 1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

As human beings our words give us the ability to communicate, to share our thoughts and feelings with others. When God sent his son to this earth it was so we could understand His Word – it was a way to express his love for us. Jesus was with God always, a part of Him, even before the world was made and only because God loved us, Jesus was born as a human baby into our world. Jesus came to speak to us, to teach us, to interpret God’s Word to those who would listen.

I know it is often hard for me to listen to what God is telling me. Sometimes I don’t have the patience to wait for His answer or I don’t understand what decision He would want me to make. Can you imagine what this world would be like if God didn’t send his Word to us?   But he sent Jesus and what a blessing that is!

Dear God, thank you for caring so much for us that you sent your Word into this world. Please help us to understand your way and your message and to follow the path you make for us, instead of always wanting to make our own way. Help us to communicate with you in praise and prayer and to listen to your word. Amen
