Read Mark 10-12

Highlight: Mark 10:32-34

They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him.  “We are going up to Jerusalem,” he said, “and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.”

When we are told that our time on earth will define our eternity we are confused and afraid. Jesus states the value system on earth will be reversed in the world to come. How can that be? What am I to do while here on earth? Jesus informed the disciples exactly what was to happen in Jerusalem and they could not yet comprehend.   We today know that Christ rose from the grave to fulfill God’s plan from the beginning. Praise God almighty for creating us in his image, and loving us.

Gracious God, I give you praise for the plan you unfolded in Jesus Christ, your plan for my salvation. I am amazed that you would love me enough to go to such great lengths to draw me near. I do not deserve your love, but I thank you for Jesus, who suffered and died for me. Help me live today in a way that honors you. Amen.
