Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
How is it that we continue to do wrong, yet the Lord never gives up on us? God wants the best from us, is even zealous that we do good. Israel again and again turned away from the Lord, and God was compelled to issue them judgment. Yet God also spoke through Zephaniah to offer comfort. A remnant will return to Jerusalem. God will smile upon them and they will rejoice with all their heart. For all the wrongs they have done, God is ready to bless them and love them as they put their trust in the Lord.
It is so wonderful to read and receive God’s words of strength and blessings of love! God is with us. God is the mighty warrior who saves. God takes great delight in us. In love God will no longer rebuke, but rejoice over us, with singing no less! God will deal with all those who brought on oppression, and will gather in the lame and the exiles.
God is always righteous and loving. God wants our best and God is ready to rejoice over us when we give it.
I’m so sorry, Lord, when I do things that disappoint you. Forgive me times when I don’t deal well with others, and neglect to give you the praise. I pray for those who do not know you, who haven’t learned about your great love. Let me today be a channel to teach others about you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
