1 Peter 5:5b-7

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Why is it that I often think that I have the answers? Sometimes it seems to me that if only others in my family or at work would listen to my ideas that they would be happier and more successful. And based on my experience don’t I have good advice for them? But this message is clear – God has the answers, not me. I should do what is right for myself and trust in Him. Even if sometimes it seems that God isn’t watching and the situation is at a point where we need to step in, we are told to have patience. How hard that is when I see my children with different parenting styles than my own or when one leader at work causes communication to grind to a halt. God knows the right way and the right time and we need to wait and listen and give our worries to Him. And how amazing is it that He doesn’t just pay attention to President Obama and LeBron James but He knows all that I do and listens to every one of my worries and needs! We are so blessed!

Dear Lord, thank you for loving me! And thank you for hearing my prayers. Help me continue to have faith, and help me trust that your way and your timing is always best. Please give me wisdom and strength to realize that I will never be able to manage alone and will always need you by my side. Amen
