Read Through the Gospels in Lent

Read through the gospels in the season of Lent; each day you will find a highlight selection from the scripture passages in the Lenten Devotional.

• Set aside 10-15 minutes each day to read your Bible selection. The Gospels contain 89 chapters, so you will read two or three chapters each day. If you are running short on time one day, you might read only the highlighted verses in the devotional, or you could use Sunday as your catch up day. It’s up to you.

• Before you read each day, begin with a prayer in your own words, or the prayer that is given that day in the devotional. Be tuned to what God has to say as you read.

• You can invite someone to join in – a neighbor, friend, coworker or church member. You may find the devotional daily posting on our church website, or you may choose to have each day’s selection emailed to you. Ask if a friend wishes to join our email list, and send their email address to Laura Christian. Plan to meet over coffee or keep in touch with one another in how you are doing on your reading. It’s always good to know someone is there to encourage and challenge you to continue on.

• If you miss one day, you can choose to pick up where you left off, or simply go on to the chapters listed for the day. No need to give yourself a guilt trip, so don’t feel you have to “catch up.” Enjoy reading God’s Word, because God is waiting for you.
