Psalm 27:4-5

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

CHURCH – What comes to mind when we hear this word? We think of a beautiful structure designed in the New England fashion. Its beauty is both on the inside and the outside. Our pews are made from the whitewood board. Have you ever studied the sanctuary’s ceiling? Ceremonies are performed in the church: weddings, baptisms and funerals. Dad made an exact replica of our church. Growing up in the church that has a room dedicated to Mom, I have many memories from Sunday school, Bible school, Junior choir, All God’s Children, and Senior choir. So “church” evokes many emotions, some happy, some sad. But what if our church structure was destroyed by fire or tornado? The question is…would we still have a church? The answer is wholeheartedly YES!! Because as the song goes, “I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together.”

PRAYER: God, please help us to work together as a congregation for You. Thank you for strong leadership in our church. We are filled with thanksgiving for not only our building, but each other. Help us to be like your son, Jesus. Amen.
