Romans 13:11-14
Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves becomingly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

The day is almost at hand, prepare! Just as parents prepare for a baby’s birth, we need to prepare ourselves to be pleasing to God and to live our lives here on earth as he would have us live, with worship, with praise and with his light shining from our lives. Let us prepare ourselves not just for the birth of a baby, but for God to come and dwell among us.

Prayer (from Creighton University)
Lord of all, you are a God of plenty, a Lord who provides for us in our need. Give me the courage to listen to your voice and the freedom to open my heart to the grace you offer me, to place my trust in you. Amen.
