Extended reading: Matthew 8:14-22 Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in-law, the cost of following Jesus
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him, 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! we’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, ” You of little faith, why are you so afraid? Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, What kind of man is this? Even the winds and waves obey him!:
I so relate to these verses in my own life. There have been many severe storms in my life and I know in my heart if Jesus has the power over weather, he has the power over any situation in my life. But like the disciples, I also have faltered in my faith, thinking, why have you not stopped this storm? I know through all the miracles I see daily that Jesus is always there with me, with all of us. but being human, sometimes we give way to our fears instead of leaning on Jesus as we should!
Lord, I thank you for your protection of us during these storms we face, and ask forgiveness for times when we falter in our faith. Help us to read your word and study and memorize your word more to keep our faith strong! Amen!
