Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is tonight at 8PM; musical sing-a-long begins at 7:30PM. Come, adore him, Christ the Lord.

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne     and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

The time is almost here. We have all worked and shopped and prepared for the perfectly planned holiday. All the sparkling lights and beautifully wrapped presents and wonderful treats and gourmet feasts are ready for tomorrow. But we cannot forget that the most wonderful gift was not in a brightly wrapped box with a festive ribbon neatly tied. That gift was planned since the beginning of time and was presented with no expensive details. Just a tiny baby who would be the greatest gift ever given, who would be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace. God gave us his son, to save us All. We need to remember this, not just today and tomorrow, but every day. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving…. Forever. Jesus Christ the Lord. Merry Christmas to us all.

Gracious God, you are wonderful, you are our counselor; you are mighty and you bring us peace – in the person of our savior, Jesus Christ. Help us reach for your gift in Jesus and choose to open it, so he can transform our lives to become like you. Thank you for Jesus our savior. Amen.
