1 Corinthians 1:4-9
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

I often think how awesome, and yet fascinating, it is that my children can be so unique from one another. I have a red head, a blond, and two brown haired children. I have two with blue eyes, one with brown eyes and one with hazel. Three of them love to play sports, one of them prefers other activities. I could go on and on! Yet they are all blessed with gifts from God. They can share these talents and gifts, that were bestowed upon them by God, with others and in this way the love of Christ shines through them. Isn’t this what God is telling us in the passage above? We may be different in our likes and dislikes. We may be different in our looks and personalities. We may be different in our talents and gifts, but we are ALL blessed with gifts that enrich our life and the lives of others! The greatest gift God has given each of us is Jesus Christ. I pray that my family uses the gifts they have been blessed with to allow the greatest gift of all to shine through, God’s love for us through Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Dear Lord, during this Advent Season as we prepare for our Christmas celebrations and the giving of gifts, help us to remember that we already have been blessed with so many gifts from you. We ask you to help us remember that the greatest gift of all is your love for us through Jesus Christ. It is our responsibility to continue to use our gifts and talents, to share your love with others so they too might come to find peace and comfort in you. Amen
